Hey, I know that the world is an interesting place and people are doing such awesome stuff. There’s a lot going on, trust me, I know. I always struggle between doing my work and staying informed while having some mindless fun (that’s important too!) But… my life is waiting on me. Your life is waiting on you. We watch as other people live these seemingly full lives on social media and/or we spend time reading a ton of things hoping to one day apply them but feeling like we need more time, resources, degrees to feel prepared. We spend time watching reality television when the reality is, that while you are scanning your instagram feed, or watching the next housewife episode, your real life is tick, tick, ticking on. Like right this second, although, I am thrilled to be holding your attention, your life is waiting on you. So go live it. GO DO. Do me a favor, get off your feeds today. Try it for little bit. Commit to a time period. An hour, 5 hours, a day… and focus on being and doing. Be fun/ do fun things. Be productivity/ do productive things. You pick your being and your doing. Check in with me tomorrow. Was this hard to do? . Your inner ally, Indi

“Follow your passion!” You hear this a ton don’t you? Some of us don't have deep passions and that’s hella ok! (I’m die hard east coast gal but I like to use “hella”, hella a lot) Having a passion may not always align with living a happy and full life for some. All of us have a calling though. A calling is an urge. A calling feels like curiosity. A calling is not singular to one particular career or thing. You can have a calling to be a good mother or father, a calling to live a free life, a calling to be an explorer, a calling to design cool shit. Whatever your calling is, it’s always urging you to listen to it. It’s whispering to you… “oh, that could be cool!” or “that would be nice.” Why don’t you answer it today?               We thrive on connection. It is the nature of being human. We want to feel like we are a part of something. We want to be accepted. Now if you are one of those people who say, “I don't care what anybody thinks of me,” I call BS. This might ruffle your feathers but I'm diggin’ the weird look anyways… You do care. If you are making a difference in the world, you care what other people think. If you are bringing a product to market, you care what other people think. If you are raising a family, you care what other people think. If you outwardly say, “I don't care what people think” you care enough about what people think to tell them you don't care. Catch my drift homie? We all freaking care! Now let's stop feeding each other that mumbo jumbo that we should not care about what other people think, alright? It's psychologically nearly impossible...think sociopath. It would also mean we’d have a pretty lackluster and apathetic world. At the root of you caring about what other people think, is your perception about what other people think. And your perception is all about… you. You. YOU. How do you feel about your inner weird? Are you disallowing yourself from showing up fully and as you are? Are you doing it because you care about what others may think or... have you failed to convince yourself that it’s ok?    Food for thought. Go be weird.    Indi

I am vulnerable. Clear vision would have me see your flaws but I want to love blindly. I am vulnerable. I am vulnerable. I’m tortured by thoughts of your thoughts. They carve into me. Painfully reminding me that I am vulnerable. I am vulnerable. I am a lions roar underneath and at the surface a whisper. I am power at my core and hidden might. I’m capable but I am not. I am vulnerable. I am vulnerable. I dream and I stop. I measure and I miss the mark. And I dream and I stop. I am vulnerable. I am vulnerable. I want love but I’m not worthy. I need love but see, I’m not worthy. What’s a want when I am not worthy? A need? I am vulnerable. I am vulnerable. Powerfully vulnerable. Indi

How many times have you asked someone close to validate an idea, a life decision or a thought and found yourself harshly or lovingly shredded to pieces? I bet many of you have. I know I have. Let a bit of light escape you and threaten those around you and watch them lovingly turn it off. Not because they don’t love you. Not because they don’t want you to succeed but because your light is a reminder of how deeply buried theirs is. If you go off and into your success you may insight panic. You’ll be forcing those around you to face themselves and their “life is happening to me and that’s why I can’t” bullshit. “I’m following a calling!” you say.    “A CALLING!?” They say. “Haha, a calling!?” They’ll tell you not to be foolish. They’ll say that you are losing it. They’ll “forget” to support you. They’ll say “it’s good” when they know damn well that it’s fucking great.  You’ve heard it all before, haven’t you? Listen here, you are your inner boss. And what does a boss do? A boss leads. A boss directs. A boss creates structure. A boss determines whose ideas will contribute the most good to the cause at hand. A boss keeps secrets in order to protect the team and the organization. A boss does not divulge unless they are sure. Embrace your inner boss. Protect your dreams. Create a structure around feedback. Ask only those you intuitively know will expand your vision. Assemble a team of these folks. Those who will always protect your vision even if they don’t fully understand it yet but because they see the way it lights you up. In my work, this is the one of the greatest conflicts I have been privy too. One week, a client will be elated about an idea, the next deflated. When I probe and get deeper on the “why?”, something like “oh I mentioned it to my...” brother, sister, mother, friend, husband.... spews out. Again, I am not questioning the intentions of these lovely people in your life. They may very well want the best for you. But your shine might awaken some fears they hold and may awaken the protector in them. When the status quo is rocked, you are up for an uphill battle friend. Embrace your inner boss. The part of you that’s the fierce protector of your dreams. Yes, he or she exists. Your inner ally, Indi //#innernotes

Are you acting on purpose?   No really, are you acting on YOUR purpose ?   And what is purpose anyway?   I find myself asking clients this question a lot and I'm usually met with a drop of the shoulder, "I don't know" answer.   Remember hearing your mom, a teacher or someone else say "hey, (enter your name here), are you doing that on purpose?" What they meant to ask you, with an aggravated tone, was to stop doing that annoying thing that you clearly had every intention to do. Since then, hopefully your motivations have morphed.   If not, that's part of a larger conversation now isn't it? =) As an adult, you no longer aspire to drive your siblings crazy, as an example, because your purpose has shifted. As a child your purpose was to have fun. Part of that fun at times meant driving other people nuts and pushing buttons. Because pushing someone's buttons made you feel heard, seen and acknowledged. As an adult, purpose takes on a different form. It's about being seen, heard and acknowledged in meaningful ways. Some may argue that purpose for them, is not about being seen, heard or acknowledged, but about doing things that they deem important or meaningful. All are true manifestations of purpose.     So what is purpose?   It's what you find important and meaningful  right now . It's the engine to action. If your purpose is to help people like it is for me, you are ignited by causes that empower others or positions that help people. If your purpose is to curate beauty in the world, you will be ignited by beautiful things and will probably be motivated by roles in which you are in relationship with those things. Do you see where I am going here?   And by the way purpose changes. As you grow, so does your purpose. Purpose is not stagnant. Purpose is continuously redefined. ...and purpose doesn't have to relate to a job. It can be a way of being in the world or a way of being purposeful with your actions.   So again I'll ask, are you acting on your purpose? Are you taking action that aligns with what brings meaning to your life?   If not, what is holding you back from starting? Your inner ally,   Indi

F*cking fail already. You just do it. With intention. Just fail. So many of us are enslaved to the fear of failure. We walk on eggshells around our own dreams, avoiding any chance of facing defeat. While you stay cozy and safe, those great ideas are being wooed by other suitors who are willing to take the risk.  (Great read on this topic: BIG MAGIC by Elizabeth Gilbert ) Here is what I have practiced and continue to practice daily—controlled risk of failure. I reach out to folks on a daily basis who are “too busy, too involved” to be a part of my projects but I ask anyways and I fail quite a bit. I sign up for things that I am not qualified to do just to get rejected. Because one rejection, if you are intentionally seeking it, makes the next rejection sting less. I have failed at various startups    I have failed with clients that weren’t quite the best fit I have failed in relationships...a lot I fail. I fail often. I fail consistently and I fail intentionally. Failure is just data. And data is useful because it helps you adjust your approach. When you fail intentionally, you start to reprogram your brain to not perceive the fear of failure as such a an intense stressor. That is a sweet sort of freedom friend. Have you practiced failing intentionally? If not, why not give it a try? Apply for something that you aren’t qualified to apply for. Send an email to that person that you have been avoiding because you fear they may say no. Try going for things that you perceive, maybe out of your reach. and...REACH. Try this for a couple of days and let me know how it goes . Be intentional about it and f*cking fail already. Your inner ally, Indi

Have you ever left a bad situation only to find yourself back in a similar scenario? Are you reliving a situation that you thought you left in the past? It may be that the characters have changed ( i.e. the boyfriends, bosses, friends etc.) but for the most part, things have not evolved.      Yours may be an internal conflict first and foremost. I’ve had my share of narcissistic personalities surround me. It was as though every time I left a bad situation, I would find myself noticing narcissistic qualities in the new people around me. Eventually I had to ask the question, “is it me?” Yes. It is always me. Yes. It is always you. The people that surround us hold a mirror up to us. They don’t necessarily have to reflect similar traits. They can reflect those aspects of ourselves that we do not tolerate. They can also reflect our weaknesses— or the areas that we subconsciously may desire to strengthen. I was constantly a victim. I was the victim of my circumstance. That was my story.  Of course, every personality that I came across would reflect to me my victim story. They were the bad, narcissists and I was always the victim, martyr. Before the outer shift happened, I had to first recognize this internal conflict. Why was being the victim so attractive to me? It all boiled down to this: Victimhood was easy. Empowerment was not. Being the victim freed me from the responsibility over my life. So if things weren’t going quite as well as I would have hoped, instead of blaming myself for not changing things, I always had a nice little villain lined up to place the blame on. I regained my power when I became aware that I was choosing to play the victim. I began to acknowledge my part in creating the victim story and also in reinforcing it.  Instead of being defensive against the “villains” in my life, I consciously stopped defending myself. I began to disengage. Slowly but surely, these characters started to shift away. Some I no longer found myself around due to the circumstances of life and others simply became non-factors. I acknowledged the inner conflict and the outer conflict subsided. What inner conflict is unresolved for you? Who is holding up a mirror for you to see something that you haven’t wanted to see? This is radical honesty in practice. Give me a shout. I’m here if you need me. Your Inner Ally, Indi

If you are feeling unfulfilled, bored, lethargic, unmotivated, inert etc. chances are that you are not activating your truth. Activating your truth restores your zest for life. When you do things that are near and dear to your heart, even if there isn’t a rhyme or reason to do them and simply because they make you feel good , you are activating your truth. A simple test to know if you are activating your truth is when you ask yourself: “Does this feel good to me?” The answer is always a resounding yes.       Think of the top 3 things that bring meaning to your life? Got your answers? Good. Have you engaged in any of those things lately? Now let's get straight to the point: commit to doing one thing related to any of those 3 things everyday this week.               We are always in search of right timing. We wonder about the right time to leave a job, or to get a business off the ground etc. We assess the right time to date someone new or the right time to pull the plug on a bad relationship. We are always searching for the the right time. Are you waiting for a sign? Have you ever said this to yourself? "I need a sign that this is the right time or the right thing to do."    Signs, however mystical their origin, are always being interpreted by you. You choose their meaning. You are the only one who decides what the “right time” is. If you have the feeling (even if it’s super subtle) that the timing for something is right, then what are you waiting for? Whose permission are you longing for? Right now, as you walk your brisk walk, or stand in line somewhere or quickly glance at your phone to find this note, right now is the right time . Yep. Right now. Even if it does not seem like it is. This moment is very powerful. Right now you could decide that you will spend your day focusing on your next step for that new business idea or that you will focus on your health and fitness or that you will choose to let go of anger for the sake of feeling good. Right now, you can accept a painful situation or you can choose to focus on it later, it is always your choice. But right now is always the right time to decide. So decide.   Your Inner Ally,   Indi
