00: We’ll start with a 2-hour discovery session. Before we dive in, we’ll spend some time getting to know one another. The discovery session is really meant for just that, discovery. During our session, we will review your answers to my initial intake questionnaire. We’ll discover where you are feeling stuck in your business and what is going well. We’ll go over the program. 


The aim? To identify what is standing the way of your growth in your life and in your business. To highlight what you are doing well as well as areas for growth. To set us up for the remainder of the sessions. To go over our engagement as coach and client and to agree upon our alliance as we embark on this 12 session, transformative coaching program.

01: When we are younger, our visions are vivid and colorful. In our youth, we are encouraged to explore all of the facets of ourselves. We may dream of becoming ballerinas or astronauts. As we live a little longer, we start to notice the world as it is. We notice the injustices, the obstacles, the unfairness etc. We determine that dreaming is not for us. We deduce that dreaming is to be contained to realistic and attainable things. Sooner or later, we pinch ourselves off from the stream of creativity that we so desperately crave. We create an internal dilemma of epic proportions: The uninhibited dreamer vs. the realist, budding adult. One, who we are born to be and the other a fabrication of our environment.

The aim? To tap into the uninhibited dreamer. To discover that you want for yourself and for your life. To determine how your business is going to help you achieve this. To uncover the new ways of being that are going to help you attain your vision.

02: What’s your vision for your business? How will your business help to support your lighthouse vision? Who will you employ? Who do you have to become to carry out your business vision? What's the vision for your business 1 year from today? 5 years from today? 10 years from today? 

The aim? Clarity. To get clear on the growth that you want to have. To develop objective concrete and measurable goals.   

 
 

03: Together, we will create a high level, 5-year strategy in which we will discuss what the objectives are for your business: financially, on a client/customer level, operationally, and for your people/ culture. 

The aim? To develop a solid plan and strategy that is flexible enough to withstand the uncertainty of the business landscape but strong enough to serve as a beacon. To get clear on what you are reaching for. 

 
 

04: Clarifying your organizational strategy is a big endeavor. In essence, the org strategy will help answer this question: what needs to happen in your organization in order to achieve the strategic objectives that we have defined? Are your employees clear on how their roles correlate to the overall vision and mission of your business? What's the competitive landscape look like?   

The aim? To get clear on how the organization needs to evolve in order to meet the strategic objectives we designed.  

 
 

05: While managing can be a challenging, knowing how to develop as a manager at each stage of growth is quite valuable as a business owner. Many business owners that I have worked with in the past have trouble understanding when it's time to let go, lead and delegate vs. being involved in the minutia of day to day business. In this module, we will address these issues.  

The aim? To discuss employee retention strategies. To incorporate feedback loops and 360° reviews. To develop key performance indicators to measure employee morale and management improvements. 

 
 

06: Review. We will review the last couple of modules: what you have put into practice, what has yet to be put into practice and why.    

The aim? To let it all sink in. To catch-up and discuss the pace and rhythm of the coaching. To reevaluate our coaching alliance. To reboot and recharge.

 
 

07: How does your business operate? Are your processes as efficient as possible?  In this module, we will explore all things operations.      

The aim? To develop a plan to have all employees document all processes using modern documentations tools. To figure out what processes need to be tightened and which processes are working well. To uncover operational weaknesses and to create a plan to resolve them.

08: Let's quantify! What are your budgetary goals on a month to month basis? Quarter to quarter? How many meetings will you engage in with your bookkeeper to review whether you are on target for the month? Do you know how to read your PNL? Balance sheet? Cashflow statement? What's your burn-rate? What percent of profitability are you aiming for? Are you engaging in tax planning? In this module, we will discuss finances. How to read your financial statements and how to use them to plan for growth.     

The aim? To get comfortable with the financial lingo. To understand how to read important financial documents. To determine the frequency of financial meetings with staff to discuss results. To develop metrics to measure growth.

 
 

09: How are you currently marketing your business? What was your marketing expense last year? How about the year before that? Are you measuring ad spend vs. sales from advertisements? Can you quantify the results of your investment? Are there sales channels that you have yet to tap into? What is keeping you from going after them? Are you pricing your products effectively? Are your products diversified and tiered? What's your social media presence? Are you emphasizing the importance of social media or are you having an intern run this? 

The aim? To implement a sales and marketing plan to reach strategic objectives defined.  

 
 

10: It's easy to forget that all of the people who work for you have lighthouse visions of their own yet they choose to work for yours. It's easy to take that for granted. In this last module, we will discuss what it takes to build a solid and dynamic team. The role of transparency in this endeavor and how to open up the lines of communication. While the managerial strategy module focuses on the technical aspects of the managerial process, this module will focus more on the interpersonal, human to human connection.        

The aim? To get comfortable with transparency in the workplace. To understand the role of communication. To discuss ways in which your business can foster the lighthouse visions of all its employees.

11: At the end of my coach training program, we were asked to go around the room and say our last words, as many as possible until we felt complete. Once we felt "complete" we would announce, "I am complete" and the next person would go. It was bitter sweet and it felt good to say all that you had to say in one long winded breath. This module is going to serve this purpose. We will get to say all we need to say to close this process. 

The aim? To feel complete.
